Hi! I’m Kelly a 20+ year experienced nurse living with chronic lung disease..

Besides years of taking care of patients (both emergency room & outpatient surgery), I personally know the challenges of navigating chronic illness and the healthcare system. I have learned to be my best advocate. I have guided many family members and friends as well. Each journey brings something different.

Here I am today, sitting in the pulmonologist office with a flare up. As I have been sitting here waiting my turn… I have watched multiple patients begin to leave and then realize they have more questions or need clarification. I can hear faint discussion as they ask office staff to simplify what the doctor told them. This is not an uncommon theme. Often providers are on rigid schedules or they just do not think to talk in non-medical jargon.
